The zoo rescues laboratory animals!

Once again, the La Barben Zoo is helping to rehabilitate animals that have been badly handled … A group of crab-eating macaques (8 females and a male) joined park residents on July 31st.
After serving for several years in medical research, these macaques were saved in extremis! Indeed, the laboratory had planned to euthanize them. It was without counting on one of their keeper and Tonga Terre d’Accueil association which finally manages to recover this group of primates.
In search of a new species for the park and very sensitive to this history, it is quite natural that the Zoo of La Barben has offered to host these crab-eating macaques. They will now be able to lead a peaceful life in a large enclosure which they will discover the development in a few days! A natural setting of grass, rocks, trees, a pool (for a water loving species), a group life and good care provided by the team of caretakers: all ingredients to offer them a sweet and protected life in the zoo!
